As Project Manager, Scott is responsible for all aspects of trademark services at Cardinal. He develops search strategies, performs searches, and reviews search results from all trademark searches. With over fifteen years of intellectual property experience, Scott specializes in providing comprehensive trademark searches as well as specialized design mark, product configuration, common law, clearance or knockout, merchandising, corporate entity, and due diligence searches.
In private practice and as in-house counsel, Scott has performed and evaluated trademark searches, filed and prosecuted federal and state trademark applications, and represented clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings and trademark infringement claims. His skills and experience enable him to develop effective search strategies to identify all pertinent registered and common law marks.
Scott earned his LL.M. in intellectual property law and policy from the University of Washington. His J.D., cum laude, was earned at the University of Idaho, where he was named Idaho Law Review Editor of the Year, and his B.S. in chemical engineering was earned at Bringham Young University. Scott is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition, he holds memberships in the International Trademark Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association.
