Cardinal Intellectual Property is seeking a Patent & Trademark Paralegal to support our intellectual property practice through the preparation and filing of patent and trademark prosecution documents, management of domestic and international intellectual property portfolios, and oversight of critical prosecution deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess strong patent prosecution experience, advanced docket management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, clients, and foreign associates.
Technical Skills
Patent Prosecution
- Preparation and filing of patent prosecution documents.
- Knowledge of U.S. patent procedures before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Experience with:
- Patent applications
- Continuations
- Divisionals
- Continuation-in-part applications
- National phase entries
- Information Disclosure Statements (IDSs)
- Assignments
- Powers of Attorney
- Inventor declarations
International Patent Experience
Familiarity with:
- World Intellectual Property Organization procedures
- Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings
- Foreign filing requirements
- Foreign associate correspondence
- National phase prosecution
Trademark Experience
- Trademark application filing and maintenance.
- Monitoring deadlines and office actions.
- Experience with:
- Domestic trademark prosecution
- International trademark portfolios
- Madrid Protocol filings
Docket Management
- Advanced docket management experience.
- Monitoring and calendaring:
- Patent prosecution deadlines
- Trademark deadlines
- Maintenance fees
- Annuities
- Foreign filing deadlines
- Experience with CPI
Education
- Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program preferred.
